For more information, go to www.goodyear.com/corporate.Program DescriptionThe Goodyear Quality/Process Specialist will go through a one-year program designed to cultivate competitive leaders with the skills and experience to perform well in manufacturing positions within Goodyear. At the successful conclusion of the first year of the program, the candidate would then be typically assigned to a one year assignment as a shift leader or process specialist.Program StructureParticipants rotate through four hands-on manufacturing assignments, resulting in rich exposure to the entire manufacturing process. The four rotating modules will include Continuous Improvement, Technology Engineer/Specialist, Maintenance Engineer/Specialist, and Business Leader. Each participant will work closely with manufacturing professionals from different disciplines and will also be paired with an experienced leader to serve as their mentor. In addition, participants will spend time attending a series of Leadership Development workshops, designed to broaden the participant’s knowledge base and provide unique insights into leadership strategy and application.

  • Shadow a Process engineer, Health and Safety Manager, Plant Optimization Leader and Business Leader for 3 month assignments to be educated in their roles and perform hands on learning activities as directed.
  • Involvement in Plant Optimization projects
  • Learn problem solving and continuous improvement methods relative to that portion of the business quarter.
  • Write reports to demonstrate knowledge of the plant’s manufacturing processes, the roles and responsibilities of the support functions, and the technical knowledge of equipment and processes in a specific area.
  • Perform a challenge assignment in each of the designated positions.
  • Complete designated management and leadership courses for entry level managers.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM)
  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA required
  • Must be geographically mobile
  • Candidates should be highly energized and self-motivated with experience working with teams to implement change and be adept at communicating with all levels to get everyone on board.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Personal computer skills in a networked environment.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who have a demonstrated history of successfully leading and facilitating changes in a 24/7 operation that involve all levels of employees with measurable results. Proven ability to lead associates through coaching and mentoring.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude. Actively participate in meeting, in a supporting role or as leader. Initiate open dialogues with peers and leadership on areas of concern. Select best means of communication. Provide compelling technical direction and logical conclusions within the function, both written and oral.
  • Complete work on time with appropriate quality. Take responsibility for own performance and results. Plan daily work to ensure effective performance. Actively participate in change and organization awareness. Participate in mentoring as mentee.
