Job Description

  • Maintain the energy databases and systems in the Energy Management Software.
  • Regularly retrieve and manipulate data using various programs and web applications to compile, analyze, import and reconcile necessary information.
  • Research energy saving opportunities introduced through Local Distribution Company (LDC).
  • Process invoices and records by verifying amounts, obtaining account numbers and forward for approval.
  • Retrieve monthly energy consumption data from natural gas, hydro and water agencies for all CGS accounts. Input consumption and cost information into energy software monthly or more regularly as required.
  • Ensure account numbers, facility information and contact information is up-to-date. Provide information to designated supervisors, consultants and agencies as required.
  • Produce benchmark, consumption, and trend reports and charts as directed.
  • Retrieve and develop historical energy consumption data and reports for obtaining subsidies and grants, and for benchmarking purposes.
  • Compose and prepare routine correspondence when required.
  • Process work orders, prepare invoices and monthly/annual reports.
  • Maintain and organize department files and progress reports as directed.
  • Conduct site visits as directed.
  • Perform electrical meter verification on city facilities.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline (business administration, computer and information technology, accounting, energy management, etc.) from a recognized Community College with Canadian accreditation.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience related to Data Integration and/or Business Administration.
  • Working experience in Energy Management field desired.
  • Knowledge of benchmarking initiatives and existing best practices for the services provided by the Energy Section.
  • Knowledge of electrical terminology and calculations.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Basics (i.e. requisitions and accounts payable); PeopleSoft experience desired.
  • Demonstrate advanced ability related to microcomputer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment (i.e. file maintenance, work processing, spreadsheet applications, information input and retrieval), database management, Sequel and Data Mining
  • Demonstrate organizational ability and attention to detailed work.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a high paced and multi-tasked environment.
  • Demonstrate courteous and effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Manage concurrent complex projects for energy retrofits.
  • Ability to test, interpret and analyse data.
  • Ability to identify, investigate and propose solutions to problems.
  • Ability to complete the safety courses like NORCAT and WHIMS.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • French verbal and written skills an asset.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
  • Physical capability to operate a vehicle safely, possession of a valid driver’s licence and an acceptable driving record, will be considered an asset.
