Job Description

  • Assist in the administration of the financial, human and physical resources of the Swimming Pool and/or facility in alignment with CGS’s vision and values and in accordance with the annual Business Plan.
  • Ensure the provision of exemplary services to all customers and innovate to achieve quality customer service outcomes response to performance measurement targets and customer feedback.
  • Recommend schedules and monitor programs; recommend changes to best meet customer needs and fulfill Leisure Services mandate and staffing requirements.
  • Responsible for pool maintenance in accordance with the Public Health Act.
  • Inspect and ensure maintenance of all equipment; monitor mechanical room and filter room as part of regularly scheduled maintenance program.
  • Oversee all on site program registration activities and transactions and ensure compliance with cash handling and control procedures. Reconcile cash, prepare deposits, maintain petty cash fund.
  • Prepare and input payroll exception reports.
  • Assist in the promotion/advertising of the Facility and its programs and events as directed.
  • Purchase and maintain supplies and/or equipment in accordance with CGS’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure conformance to CGS By-Laws, policies and procedures that govern the facility and its Employees.
  • Teach swimming, aquasizes and perform Lifeguard duties, as required.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness, safety and security of the Swimming Pool.
  • Assist in the recruitment process; prepare schedules, lead, guide and train staff; develop and monitor staff performance of employees.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Ensure front entrance and exit doors are clear of snow for public usage (Winter).
  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGSs Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a two (2) year Community College Diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services, Recreation Facility Management or related field.
  • Must possess and maintain current National Lifeguard Certificate.
  • Must possess and maintain current First Aid and C.P.R. Level C from one of the following agencies: Lifesaving Society, St-John’s Ambulance, Red Cross or Canadian Ski Patrol.
  • Must possess and maintain Lifesaving/National Lifeguard Instructor Certificates.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer Certificate.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Examiner Certificate.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Lifesaving Society Pool Operator – Level 1 Certificate.
  • Courses through the Ontario Recreation Facilities Association are considered an asset.
  • Over two and one-half (2½) years up to five (5) years of experience in an aquatic leadership role.
  • Some budgeting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge in Aquatic activities.
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate ability in scheduling, co-ordination/organizing and ensuring continuity of program/events within time and budget restrictions.
  • Demonstrate ability to work co-operatively, efficiently and effectively alongside peers and superiors.
  • Ability to maintain pleasant and effective relations with internal and external contacts under difficult circumstances.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • French verbal and written skills an asset.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
  • Provide, at own cost, a Criminal Reference Check.
  • Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid drivers licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
