  • review, approve, reduce and/or refuse technical assessment work submissions filed according to the Mining Act and Assessment Work regulation
  • communicate on a technical level with mining claim holders
  • review geoscience reports and maps submitted by mining claim holders
  • determine if technical submissions meet the requirements of the Mining Act and regulations including geophysical, geochemical, geological and other technical assessment work
  • recommend for approval, return or refuse submissions and notify mining claim holders of the amendments required
  • determine the level of assessment work credits to be approved
How do I qualifyMandatory
  • For the temporary bilingual position: proficiency in English and oral French at the advanced level is required for this position. Candidates who do not already have a valid certificate will be evaluated as part of the interview process.
Technical skills and knowledge:
  • You have thorough knowledge of geosciences including geology, geophysics, geochemistry, mineral exploration, and geotechnical assessment practices.
  • You have the ability to apply and interpret the Mining Act, applicable regulations and procedures regarding legal requirements for the filing and review of technical reports.
  • You have strong computer proficiency with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software to produce statistical data, graphs, charts and reports.
People skills:
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients, ministry and industry officials using tact and diplomacy.
  • You are able to make independent decisions ability to work as part of a team.
Other essential skills:
  • You have well developed analytical skills to audit detailed reports for appropriate technical content and expenditures consistent with industry standards.
  • You have developed good decision-making and judgement skills.
  • You have well developed organizational and record-keeping skills.
