MASTER DRILLING CANADA LTDEmployment Opportunity“HSE Officers”Master Drilling Canada is looking for “SHERQ/HSE Officers” for our Various Projects located in CanadaJob SummaryUnder the supervision of the project manager, The SHERQ officer is to provide the necessary resources and support required to enable field personal to meet all Master Drilling, client and legislative requirements relating to health and safety in the workplace.Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review with all employees at safety meeting any Master Drilling and /or client safety and operational site announcements, and obtain written records with names, Dates and signatures
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a site-specific Training Program.
  • Establish and maintain employee training records.
  • Conduct safety training and education program and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
  • Provide new employees health and safety orientations and develop content for these presentations.
  • Participate in all Injury and Incident Investigations to identify the root underlining causes in order to prevent reoccurrences in the future.
  • Participate and develop operational Risk Assessments per activity.
  • Compile and check the integrity of all Quality and Authorization documents as per Master Drilling process flow (Wagon wheel)
  • Use platforms provided to upload any Unsafe conditions, non-conformances, and incidents.
  • Responsible for keeping minimum PPE Stock levels and safety related gear equipment for site and to provide a monthly safety Budget
  • Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and Master Drilling Safety Program audits.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures.
  • Advise senior management on matters relating to training and workforce development.
  • Have the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor.
  • Responsible for the use and maintenance of all safety equipment, i.e. PPE, lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation.
  • Ensure permits are in place and lock 0ut tag out procedures are followed.
  • Ensure that workers are qualified and capable to safely performing the assigned work.
Required Skills and QualificationsSome or all of the following certifications are required:
  • Ontario Basic Underground hard Rock Miner – or Equivalent
  • NCSO required or actively pursuing designation
Skills and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Formal Training in a safety Program
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in un underground mining environment
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments of specific task
  • Ability to prepare work related procedures
  • Ability to identify and solve problems
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Computer Literate
  • Ability to use Microsoft (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
