THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED AS ONE THAT REQUIRES REGULAR TRAVEL THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to the Manager of Regional Recruitment (Asia), the International Liaison Coordinator will assist Laurentian University to achieve its recruitment objectives, in line with the University’s strategic direction, goals, bilingual and tri-cultural mandate. The successful candidate will focus on international student recruitment and admissions by meeting with prospective students and organizations to promote Laurentian University’s academic programs and services; Assist the Office of Admissions with processing admissions files for international status applicants; Develop, produce and maintain print and electronic information and marketing materials in support of these programs; Works with internal departments to ensure integrated liaison activities between academic and administrative units.Duties included, but not limited to:
  • Develop and perform a variety of presentations before varied types and sizes of audiences (prospective students, parents, guidance counsellors, faculty members, colleagues from other universities, administrative staff and consultants);
  • In collaboration with the Manager of Admissions, ensure all processes related to the evaluation, admission and processing of all international applications, (undergraduate, graduate, full-time, part-time) to Laurentian University, its affiliated colleges and all collaborative partners, including the determination of eligibility for admission and the evaluation of prior learning experiences;
  • Travel domestically and internationally (up to 15 weeks) to independently conduct information sessions in a variety of formats (fairs, presentations, information panels, etc.). Supports the Liaison mandate to promote the University’s character and opportunity, and must be able to demonstrate a high quality of language in English and in one or more southeastern Asian languages. Quality of presentation and ease of relation with an audience is critical;
  • Assist the digital strategies department in maintaining the relevant sections of the Laurentian University website;
  • Participate in Laurentians presence in social media (i.e.: YouTube, Facebook, eINFO, edge.com, chats, blogs, etc.) Must be cognizant of social propriety, cultural appropriateness and be sensitive to the public image of the University;
  • Organize and coordinate a number of recruitment campaigns (calling campaigns, chat campaigns, email campaigns, mailing campaigns, etc.). (10-12 per year);
  • Assist university administrators and staff with the admission of students;
  • Plan and organize university overseas missions led by senior administration and faculty;
  • Plan and organize incoming international delegations of institution administrators, faculty and associations;
  • Liaise with and advise students and guardians throughout the admission process;
  • Liaise with students completing associate or partner institution programs;
  • Recommend the development and implementation of activities to increase student mobility and recruitment of international markets;
  • Liaise with Alumni to foster ongoing relationships with LU graduates residing internationally;
  • Maintain a database of information about target recruitment areas, contacts, prospective students and visit results. Assess this data to assist in the focus and refine liaison outreach efforts to achieve goals;
  • Other duties as assigned related to the Office of Admissions.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
  • Honors undergraduate degree (4 years) in a relevant discipline;
  • Three to five years of experience in an educational setting;
  • Proven knowledge of Asian education systems;
  • Strong communication, customer service, conflict resolution and problem solving skills;
  • Computer skills, social media knowledge and experience using the internet and the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) skills and proven capabilities in mastering plugins;
  • Must be self-directed with the ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and set priorities;
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners;
  • Ability to travel and visit community organizations as required;
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours to attend student social events as required;
  • Extensive experience with international travel, recruitment networks from abroad, and different cultures;
  • Proficiency in English and one or more southeastern Asian languages.
