We are seeking an individual to join our dynamic team and provide leadership to scientific and technical staff and support the operations of the Geoscience Laboratories.About us:The Mines and Minerals Division focuses on the provision of basic geological information gathering and interpretation in support of Ontarios exploration, mine development and mining sectors and the administration of Ontarios Mining Act in a fair and consistent fashion. The Division also works with the industry to stimulate job creation, eliminate barriers to growth in the mining sector and reduce the regulatory burden on the industry. • Lead, motivate and inspire staff in delivering high quality research and analysis.

• Manage and oversees research and development activities and programs while maintaining awareness of new techniques and equipment.
• Manage the development and implementation of the branchs health/wellness and safety/wellness program, and ensure compliance with Ministry and legislative requirements.
• Facilities management and equipment procurement and associated financial responsibilities.
• Direct performance measures, benchmarks and quality assurance standards for program development and implementation.
• Participate in health and safety committees to develop policies and procedures to improve work health and safety/wellness programs and initiatives.

• You have the ability to build and maintain effective networks and teams within and across organizational units as well as with Indigenous communities, external stakeholders, and collaborators in order to gather input, build consensus and deliver on goals and priorities.

Technical Knowledge

• You have working knowledge of geoscience to provide advice, and direction to team of highly technical staff.
• You are aware of current and emerging developments in geoscience.
• You have the ability to interpret and apply legislation to identify and assess potential of ministry regulatory changes/strategic policy directions, and emerging issues.
• You have knowledge of laboratory practices including federal and provincial health and safety legislative requirements to plan and manage the health and safety programs.
• You have knowledge of the OPS Procurement Directive to coordinate large purchases related to equipment and supplies.
• You have an understanding of quality assurance and quality control in relation to a Geoanalytical facilities.
