We offer in-home respite, home care, and nursing services to all ages from 0 to99+ however, we are geared to serving children with special needs, complex behaviors, and who are medically fragile etc. We are looking for caring and self-driven individuals who want to generate change within their community especially in the lives of children.We have made it our business to help others and if this sounds like you we encourage you to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team!Come visit us at www.respitenursesagency.comPosition summary: We are looking for PSW’s with Pediatrics experience to join our team and be part of our staffing for ongoing opportunities.Job duties (include but are not limited to):

  • Provide in-home visits and manage each clients unique needs as per care plan
(i.e. activities-of-daily living, such as hair care, shaving, cleaning teeth/dentures, bathing, bed bath, dressing, assist with mobilization activities, toileting and/or commode needs, etc. ) Does not include cutting of nails and changing dressings
  • Reminding the client to take their prescription medications, does not include
administering medication unless specifically delegated by the supervising nurse in emergency situation
  • Practice safe lifting techniques and transfers to ensure safety
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of care
  • Provide respite care to clients, including one-to-one interaction while taking interest in the client’s likes i.e. card game, reading, puzzle, etc.
  • Light cooking, assist clients with feeding while adhering to safe food handling
  • Encourage clients, and families/caregivers to be active participants in developing a client centered care plan
  • Make recommendations for devices/tools that may improve client’s quality of life
  • Identify, document, and report any significant changes or concerns of the client to the lead nurse or management
  • Identify concerns or issues that require reporting to various individuals including management, CAS, police or other authorities as appropriate
  • Provide light cleaning duties i.e. dusting, washing floors, vacuuming, bedding, laundry, caring for houseplants, taking out garbage, tidying living space, washing and drying dishes, kitchen cleaning and caring for pets
  • Complete a environmental risk assessments and follow safe work practices
  • Practices according to the company policy and procedures
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a recognized PSW program
  • Experience working as Personal Support Worker
  • Training and Certification (i.e. Triple P, GPA, Food Handlers, etc.) an asset
  • Must have valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Advanced proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English is essential
  • Valid First Aid (level C) Certification and CPR
  • Current N95 mask fit
  • CPIC with vulnerable sector check within the last 6 months
  • Ability to work independently and to remain accountable
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Able to work flexible hours
Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks as required to complete personal care and assistanceAbility to maintain client confidentialityBenefits/extras include:
