With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world. Sudbury is also home to several administrative sites serving both the Ontario Operations as well as all our North Atlantic Operations.Our Team:The Vale Copper Cliff Nickel Refinery and Electrowinning plant, is critical to the production of Finished Nickel. The production facility is comprised of Operating, Maintenance and Technical departments working together to process nickel sulphide and nickel oxide feeds into class 1 Finished Nickel. The CCNR/EW Process Technology Team is integrated within the operation and provides process troubleshooting support, on-stream process control analyzer support and key analyses of critical assets to ensure the safe operation of the facility. The team provides support for pyrometallurgical, vapometallurgical (carbonyl) and hydrometallurgical facilities, making this an exciting opportunity.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Process Technology Co-op Student to join our team in Sudbury. This is a fixed term position, 8 to 12 months duration, starting in May 2023.The student will provide process data analysis, conduct troubleshooting of process instability and work on continuous improvement projects for the carbonyl process.Accountabilities:

  • Follow all Health and Safety protocols, procedures, guidelines.
  • Actively participate in daily team line-ups, safety meetings and activities related to the execution of the departmental Safety plan.
  • Read and understand the IPC technical training manuals.
  • Participate and provide backup for the daily KPI meeting at the IPC.
  • Conduct troubleshooting tasks, as assigned by IPC senior engineer.
  • Learn how to navigate and update ProcessBook and PI Vision pages.
  • Complete continuous improvement projects, as assigned by IPC senior engineer.
About YouEducation:
  • Currently enrolled in a chemical/metallurgical engineering university program.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 products; Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook
