  • plan, coordinate, implement and monitor technical and operational lands and resource program activities
  • provide leadership and technical advice in implementing the technical and operational aspects of the lands program
  • assist in the preparation and implementation of compliance plans and monitoring activities
  • communicate lands and resource program information to internal and external clients
  • lead the resolution of lands related issues and facilitate the development of partnership arrangements
How do I qualifyMandatory requirements:
  • You have a valid class G drivers licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario to travel within the park.
  • The position requires the ability to pass and be designated as a Provincial Park Warden as authorized through the Provincial Parks and Conservation Act.
  • You have the ability to operate motor boats, canoes, ATVs and to be able to fly in small planes and/or helicopters.
Technical knowledge:
  • You have applied knowledge of lands and protected areas.
  • You have working knowledge of protected areas based resource management planning, and property and land management techniques.
  • You have the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, guidelines and manuals (such as Provincial Parks Policy and Guidelines, Public Lands Directives, Protected Areas directives).
Negotiation and interpersonal skills:
  • You have proven negotiation skills to facilitate resolution of land management conflicts.
  • You have demonstrated interpersonal skills to represent the Ministry in public consultation processes, work with internal and external clients and establish partnerships with groups holding conflicting views.
Planning and coordinating skills:
  • You have proven planning and coordinating skills to provide technical input to resource management planning processes, plan and coordinate project expenditures, staff and equipment.
  • You can efficiently coordinate work to ensure the timely review, assessment, approval and audits of concurrent projects.
Analytical and problem-solving skills:
  • You have sound analytical skills to evaluate and establish training plans and compliance strategies.
  • You are proficient at analyzing data, determining issues and resolving disputes and conflicts between property owners (users) and Crown.
Communication skills:
  • You have strong communication skills to deliver presentations, discuss sensitive resource decisions, conduct media interviews and respond to public inquiries with diplomacy and tact.
  • You have well developed written communication skills to prepare briefing notes, draft Ministry letters, press releases and write technical reports.
Computer skills:
  • You have strong knowledge of personal computers/software as well as word-processing, database, electronic mail, internet and spreadsheet applications.
