ERM is seeking a motivated Staff Environmental Scientist who is interested in supporting a variety of projects covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services, including joining our growing Mine Closure Team in Sudbury, Ontario .This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental projects for large mining, industrial and global clients. The successful candidate will be highly organized, willing to work simultaneously in different projects streams, perform field work in remote areas, and prepared to travel to projects across Canada and internationally. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior professional looking to develop their career with a leading global sustainability consultancy.RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct technical work in support of mine closure planning and capital delivery projects, environmental baseline studies, environmental assessments, EHS compliance, site investigation and remediation, and due diligence transaction projects.
• Assist with field monitoring and data collection programs as part of a field team, including environmental baseline studies (e.g., water sampling, hydrology, vegetation and wildlife surveys) and site inspections at remote sites.
• Support Project Managers in the delivery of a wide variety of projects, with tasks including budget and schedule tracking, invoicing, coordination and logistics.
• Conduct research, compile, manage and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in environmental or natural sciences, engineering or related field.
• Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
• Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health & Safety protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to apply a high standard of scientific rigor to all projects and deliverables.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment.
• Interest in field work in remote locations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet).
• Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to speak French and/or Spanish an asset.
