Job Requisition Id: 163193Business Function: Plant OperationsPrimary City: SudburyOther Location(s):Province: OntarioEmployment Type: Full-TimeEmployment Status: PermanentLanguage Requirement: Bilingual Imperative (BBBB)Employee Class and Level: OP 01Number of Vacancies: 1Job Closing Date (MM/DD/YYYY): 12/07/2022Job DescriptionThe Supervisor, Relief, Manual and Mechanized oversees the operation of an assigned area of the shift or section and assists in the management of the efficient manual and machine processing of mail.Job ResponsibilitiesBelow are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Supervisor, Relief, Manual and Mechanized.

  • Sets daily priorities and schedules staff for the assigned area to ensure that deadlines and service commitments are met.
  • Promotes and implements work place safety and health programs and processes for their work unit. Takes corrective action to rectify unsafe operating conditions. Oversees the return-to-work and accommodation of employees.
  • Supervises, coaches, and provides guidance and leadership to employees, promoting a respectful environment in the workplace. Administers human resources processes Resolves staff issues. Consults with Labour Relations and/or union representatives on the application of the terms of the collective agreement. Creates learning and knowledge transfer opportunities for assigned staff.
  • Maintains optimum productivity levels by closely monitoring and adjusting staffing to workload. Estimates workloads in order to arrange for adequate staff to be on duty. Recommends the use of overtime, as required, and occasionally authorizes its use when working alone.
  • Performs frequent quality checks on all aspects of the designated shift or section. Conducts hourly throughput checks on mechanized processes and daily observations of employee productivity for manual sorting. Investigates abnormalities, resolves minor issues, and escalates more significant problem.
Job Responsibilities (continued)
  • Analyzes daily productivity reports to determine problems and trends. Shares analysis and results with team. Works to improve performance and implement best practices in productivity.
  • Liaises with other sections in operations to ensure the efficient movement of mail and employees between sections.
  • Maintains employees’ time and leave to ensure the accurate and timely pay for all employees.
  • Produces reports, resolves related data issues and performs other administrative tasks associated with a team leader role.
QualificationsEducation
  • High School diploma or provincial equivalent (GED) (Equivalent Experience may be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma)
Experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience managing a team OR Minimum 2 years’ experience working within a unionized environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., understand the major features of each software application)
