Job Description

IMP Aerospace is a leading Canadian aerospace company trusted by operators for its engineering and maintenance expertise in domestic and international military, government, original equipment manufacturers, and commercial environments. IMP Aerospace strives to be an exceptional service provider committed to customer satisfaction and growth through operational excellence, employee engagement, and diversification.Position Overview:The Deputy Site Manager (DSM) at the Cormorant Main Operating Base (MOB) in Greenwood, NS is responsible to the Site Manager (SM) for the coordination of all activities in support of aircraft undergoing scheduled maintenance, second level maintenance shops, material inventory and control, Aircraft Maintenance Support Equipment (AMSE) and tool control while in adherence to overall scheduling and standards of maintenance at the site. As the Person Responsible for Assignment of Authority (PRAA), he administers the technical training program in support of the maintenance qualifications and authorizations of the MOB technicians.Key Areas of Responsibility:The DSM’s specific duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Directing, documenting and issuing instructions and procedures to be used by the CSH Maintenance Organization personnel, to ensure that all work performed on the CH149 Cormorant helicopter and associated systems/components comply with the requirements of the IMP CSH Maintenance Process Manual (MPM) and the Approved Maintenance Program.
  • Ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with the CH149 Approved Maintenance Program, and in accordance with associated Quality System and Standard Plant Procedures (QSPs and SPPs).
  • Ensuring that the scheduled maintenance program and any unscheduled maintenance is planned and completed to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensuring that the SM, SMM and PM CSH are advised of any issues, problems, or service difficulties, discovered during the maintenance of the CH149 Cormorant helicopter.
  • Ensuring through internal audits that the competency levels of personnel meet the requirements of the CSH MPM to perform technical airworthiness functions, and participating in the development and implementation of any corrective action.
  • Verifying through internal audit, that maintenance performed at the MOB, is compliant with the Quality System and Airworthiness Control Procedures of the IMP CSH MPM and that publications formally published by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and the Technical Airworthiness Authority (TAA) for each product type are current and available to all maintenance personnel and participating in the development and implementation of any corrective action.
  • Coordinating IMP MOB staff training including specialty training and industrial and safety related training as required by Provincial and/or Federal legislation or regulations. Such training may include MPM training, TAM training, initial type training, and recurrent training as required by the IMP CSH MPM and TQ&A Plan, WHIMIS, First Aid, Forklift Driver Training, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Safe Handling of HAZMAT, Medical Waste, and First Aid and Safety.
  • Ensuring that all work subcontracted to organizations not accredited by the TAA, complies with the requirements of the IMP CSH MPM and meets the requirements of the CSH Program.
  • Ensuring that non-conforming aeronautical products are removed from service and reported to the SMM and PM CSH in accordance with QSPs and the IMP CSH MPM.
  • Co-Chairing the MOB General Safety Committee and acting as the IMP MOB representative on the Wing General Safety, the Wing FOD Control and Wing Snow and Ice Removal Committees.
  • Liaising directly with the Manager Quality Systems and Safety at HIA with regard to any Quality or Safety issues.
  • Initiating and acting on Corrective Action Reports (CARs) in accordance with QAP 4.14 and SPP-328.
  • The DSM will be Acting Site Manager when necessary.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities in your area.
  • Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
  • The successful applicants will be eligible to meet requirements for the U.S International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
  • Applicants must be able to pass and maintain a Level II (Secret) security clearance with the Department of National Defence.
Position Requirements:
  • Hold an Engineering degree and/or equivalent and relevant aerospace work experience.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Airworthiness Rules and Standards, Maintenance Planning, Aircraft Documentation, and Personnel Management.
  • Detailed knowledge of daily SAR Squadron operations.
  • 6 years of relevant and progressively more responsible aerospace maintenance experience, of which 2 years has been in the supervision of aeronautical product maintenance.
