Site Safety Coordinator, Field Services – Lanigan, SaskatchewanThe position of Safety Coordinator is located on-site at the Canpotex Rail Maintenance Facility near Lanigan, SK, will report directly to the Procor Site Manager, and will also have a dotted line relationship to the Procor Health & Safety Coordinator – Field Services.The position, is accountable for establishing safety training needs, facilitating training, audits, and implementing programs and objectives required to safely and efficiently complete railcar switching and repairs for the facility. The successful candidate will provide leadership, support and guidance to all employees at the facility on the various internal and external Safety, Health, & Environmental procedures and requirements that affect the facility and its stakeholders.Roles & Responsibilities:· Organize and lead monthly employee safety meetings, internal JHSC meetings, safety audits, and follow up to ensure matters are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner· Conduct regular task observations of employees to ensure compliance, effectively coach employees, and address all issues of non-compliance· Investigate incidents/findings thoroughly by effectively using root cause analysis, to create and communicate appropriate actions to eliminate repeat incidents· Work closely with the Site Supervisor to design and implement workplace processes, procedures, and lead projects that help protect workers from potentially hazardous workplace conditions· Track and update existing site training records and training tools as well as identify new Health & Safety or technical training needs· Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with Procor, customer, and government Health & Safety standards and regulations· Key liaison for Procor with Canpotex, and their contractors, regarding all safety programs including participation in any Canpotex safety initiatives· Liaise with the customer’s safety group to manage required communication, metrics, and support, including ISNetworld and other functions· Travel on an as required basis· Other related duties as assignedRequirements:· 3-5 years of experience in Health & Safety within a production or repair/service facility· Previous experience in railcar or railroad industry considered an asset· Preference will be given to individuals holding a C.R.S.P. designation, or equivalent· Preferred candidates will offer solid experience in safety legislation, environmental legislation, and coordination of training programs· Previous experience in external and/or internal audits conducted by regulatory organizations, and corporate· Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislative requirements for operating in Saskatchewan· Core competencies include task observations and coaching, safety & quality control records and documentation, root cause analyses, corrective and preventative actions, technical training· Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills· Strong computer and communications skills· Legally entitled to work in CanadaSuccessful applicants are required to complete and pass our full medical testing upon hireWork Environment:1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a shop or rail yard where moving mechanical parts are present, and in an office environment.2. The employee will be asked to where applicable PPE, enter confined spaces, work around machinery, and work in conditions where there are loud noises and fumes.This is a challenging position for a person with a very good understanding of our industry/our products.
