CAMP COUNSELLOR * Lead by example in promoting a positive experience by demonstrating a willingness to participate in and initiate activities * Ensure health and safety regulations are followed * Upon training, ensure all staff and user groups are properly oriented to the facility operation and emergency procedures (Occupational Health & Safety) * Assist in overseeing the safety of user groups, staff, volunteers, and visitors. * Ensure the facility is cleaned as per standards * Safely operate all vehicles (land, water) and equipment * Respond appropriately and quickly to any emergency that may arise * Experience leading/instructing individual/group activities * Effective communication and interpersonal skills * Client focused * Knowledge to maintain and repair sports equipment * Dependable * Flexible * Team player Additional skills considered an asset: * Experience working with developmentally disabled * Familiar with operations of watercraft vehicles Certifications: * First Aid Certificate. * CPR Certificate * Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check * National Lifeguard Certification (preferred) * Class 2Driver’s License (preferred) * Lead groups and individuals in recreational or leisure programs * Instruct groups and individuals in arts and crafts * Plan and carry out recreational, fitness and sports activities * Schedule activities, keep logs, maintain records, and prepare reports * Assemble supplies, sports, and game equipment * Monitor recreational, sports or fitness activities to ensure safety and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required * Plan, create, develop, and deliver (individually and/or as part of the team) a variety of events and activities appropriate to the needs of each group attending Camp L. G. Barnes including music, drama, crafts, games, play instruments, sing, lead singsongs, puppetry, skits, magic acts, dress-up, storytelling, painting, bingo, dancing * Facilitate recreation, leisure, sports including petting farm, wagon rides, animal rides, house-boating, paddle-boating, canoeing, swimming, group sporting activities, picnics, barbequing, nature walks * Plan appropriate alternate events due to weather change/inclement weather conditions for scheduled camp groups Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contractContract length: 8 weeksSalary: $20.00 per hourSchedule:
