Job Description

On behalf of our client, Valent Legal, we are looking for an OPERATIONS MANAGER to join their team.ABOUT OUR CLIENT:Valent Legal is a progressive + rapidly growing law firm located in downtown Halifax. With a tight-knit, open, + friendly team culture, Valent Legal is committed to positively impacting their clients’ lives while fostering a supportive + successful environment for their team.THE OPPORTUNITY: The OPERATIONS MANAGER will play a critical role in ensuring the firm #39;s success by supporting the team + driving operational excellence. The successful candidate will oversee key areas such as operations, reporting, finance, marketing, technology, + human resources, while working closely with senior leadership to set + implement strategic objectives.   • Lead + support administrative staff (Office Coordinator, Intake Manager) while overseeing firm-wide operations.
  • Continuously refine + optimize business processes to enhance efficiency + support growth.
  • Act as a liaison between the firm + the parent company, streamlining communications + managing expectations.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set + implement strategic objectives.
REPORTING:
  • Prepare + deliver weekly performance reports to senior leadership.
  • Continuously improve reporting processes to provide actionable insights.
  • Identify cases ready for settlement + collaborate with the legal team to prioritize them.
FINANCE:
  • Collaborate with the finance team to establish + monitor budgets, adjusting as needed throughout the year.
  • Manage payroll + office expenses, ensuring financial alignment.
  • Support senior leadership in budget management + cost control.
MARKETING:
  • Oversee + manage external marketing partners, including social media, digital marketing, + ad hoc campaigns.
  • Lead regular performance review meetings with marketing partners, ensuring alignment + accountability.
  • Analyze + report on marketing effectiveness, recommending budget adjustments based on ROI + client acquisition costs.
HUMAN RESOURCES:
  • Administer employee benefits and time-off requests through Bamboo HR.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws + firm policies, while fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Provide conflict resolution support, as needed.
STAKEHOLDER LIASION:
  • Serve as the primary contact for the parent company, ensuring seamless collaboration + integration of processes.
  • Filter + prioritize requests, addressing operational concerns independently + escalating only when necessary.
  • Facilitate alignment between parent company initiatives + the firm’s goals, ensuring minimal disruption to legal operations.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in business administration, operations management, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong technical skills in operational management, financial oversight, + technology systems.
  • Soft skills such as empathy, attention to detail, effective communication, + demonstrated leadership capabilities.
Benefits
  • Salary: $75,000-$90,000/year, commensurate with experience + qualifications.
