Established in 1789, Kings College is Canadas oldest chartered university and is associated with Dalhousie University. A small and extraordinarily lively academic community located in Halifax (Kjipuktuk), Nova Scotia, Kings is known nationally and internationally for its highly acclaimed interdisciplinary programs in the humanities, including its renowned Foundation Year Program, its professional programs in journalism and its fine arts program in creative writing. Kings is a community where students, faculty, alumni, and staff work to bring greater understanding, creativity, and compassion to the world.Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Alumni Relations Manager supports the universitys goal to build and strengthen connections with the alumni network. They will work with Advancement colleagues, the Associations Executive, the University President, and other senior management as appropriate, to advance the priorities of the university with respect to alumni relations. The Alumni Relations Manager will contribute to the Annual Advancement Plan and work from those plans to design, manage and implement a comprehensive alumni relations program for the university in partnership with the Alumni Association.The successful candidate will support the Alumni Association which requires understanding the strategic priorities of the university and to balance these priorities with the needs of the Alumni Association to arrive at actionable items. They will coordinate the work of the Alumni Executive Board volunteers by assisting in developing and implementing their strategic goals, record keeping, organizing their meetings, and other administrative duties deemed practical and appropriate. They will work with the Association Executive and its respective committees to support current student outreach, to manage the alumni students awards, and to monitor the budget of the alumni relations program. They will manage university events organized by Advancement such as annual lectures, including consideration for how these events can enhance alumni engagement, as well as manage all the online and in person alumni events. They will prepare a critical path and promotional plan for each event under management as well as briefing notes for college officials when they are addressing or formally interacting with alumni. They will work to increase alumni involvement, increase recognition for alumni, and assist the association to annually attract alumni to its volunteer leadership roles.The Alumni Relations Manager will understand the universitys fundraising priorities and assist the relationship management process and outcomes for alumni. They will work with the Director and Office Manager on strategy, implementation and stewardship of the Annual Fund and related phone-a-thon and other alumni centred development initiatives. When appropriate, they will visit with alumni to keep them informed about Kings plans and partner with other Kings leadership and volunteers on select donor visits. The incumbent will maintain alumni records in the Advancement Office database for relationship tracking purposes and to ensure the accuracy of current information such as current contact information.The incumbent will support alumni communications by identifying alumni for profiles and making suggestions to keep alumni web content refreshed and newsletter content current. The successful candidate will receive, record, and create alumni updates to support the Associate Director, Communications with content suggestions for the alumni web pages, newsletters, the alumni magazine, Tidings. They will perform any other duties assigned by the Director of Advancement.This is a full-time, permanent position which is expected to commence as soon as possible. Remote Work and Flex Hours are available, subject to the approval of department head.The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent, with five years minimum experience in special events, development, or volunteer management. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.They must have excellent multitasking ability. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality of sensitive information. Attention to detail, superior judgement, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with high energy and creativity are required. Must possess the ability to collaborate with a team while also working independently and being self-motivated. Written and verbal communications skills, social media expertise, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office programs are essential. Knowledge of Kings and its programs as well as Raisers Edge (or similar client management tool) would be an asset .Closing Date: July 29, 2022Salary will be commensurate with level of education and experience. The salary range for this position is: $52,670 to $69,211.
