We are currently looking to fill the position of* IT Application Support Analyst*, to join our Work and Asset Management (WAM) project team, in a full-time, regular position.WAM is our commitment to staying modern and building a future-ready utility. So with each new phase, we’ll be ready to care for Nova Scotians – whatever the need.The primary focus will be on work management transformation and providing Maximo Private SaaS application implantation coordination and other administration support services. It is expected that the successful candidate will transition to the dedicated application support team post project.Accountabilities: Under the direction of the WAM Technology Manager, the Intermediate IT Application Support Analyst is accountable for analyzing, implementing, and maintaining computer systems that achieve the service levels established for designated customers.The Intermediate IT Application Support Analyst needs to maintain a thorough understanding of all application related business processes and have abilities to define and support the following functions:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve application problems;
  • Manage and execute application change using standard change management methodologies;
  • Answer customer questions regarding product usage;
  • Complete application system administration requests in a timely and quality manner;
  • Provide proactive application monitoring;
  • Recognize and identify potential areas where existing business policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, and make recommendations;
  • Manage application support issues using standard tracking tools, log customer questions, and track issues through to completion;
  • Ensure effective use of application security and controls by communicating application policies, procedures, and practices to the application users;
  • Perform project and operational tasks with good overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines;
  • Interact with vendors to resolve application problems and research information;
  • Maintain relationships with business partners and system users;
  • Support customer reporting requests;
  • Provide after-hours support.
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.Skills, Capabilities and Experience: The successful candidate will have a University degree or diploma in a computer related discipline and between two and five years’ experience in client facing support roles. An understanding and experience utilizing best practice information technology incident and request management processes is required.Experience and knowledge supporting technologies or processes such as:
  • Incident Management;
  • Request Management;
  • Change Management;
  • SQL, data retrieval and analysis;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Working knowledge and experience with the following would be an asset:
  • Maximo
  • WebSphere
  • Crystal Reports;
  • ITIL Foundations training;
  • Integrated application environments;
  • Project execution and implementation.
