As a non-profit charity we provide vital services, including Health, Employment, Childcare/Camps, Immigrant Services, and Youth Development.The John W. Lindsay YMCA is a 70,000 sf. Health, fitness, and aquatic facility projecting to serve between 6500-8000 members annually. Facility amenities include: 12,000 sf. of conditioning space, 4 exercise studios, indoor walking track, natatorium consisting of a 6 lane-25 m pool, hydrotherapy & teaching pool with a moveable floor, community meeting room, and a child & family centre.The OpportunityAs Aquatics Supervisor, you play an essential role in ensuring aquatics programming oversight including procurement, program development, training, in-services and delivery in support of Association goals and programming outcomes. You will help our aquatics department reach its goals, while having fun along the way! Reporting to the Aquatics Manager, this role is integral to ensure our core values and mandate are delivered in a meaningful, safe, positive and inclusive way for each participant.Specifically you will:Build, foster, and maintain positive working relationships with participants, community members, staff and volunteer in efforts to enhance and promote our YMCA in the community. Evaluate, present, and initiate recommendations to enhance participant satisfaction, engagement, and retention to ensure the delivery of quality aquatics programmingSupervise the delivery of aquatics programs offered. Ensure program delivery is in keeping with YMCA Aquatic Swim Instruction, and YMCA Serving All Member (SAM) standardsEnsure Aquatics Centre and program delivery meets or exceeds any and all provincial/public health regulations, Child Protection, and Aquatics safety standardsManage programming administration including oversite of participant attendance, performing evaluations, continual evaluation of current staff members and meeting staffing requirements on pool deckWe OfferIn joining the YMCA, you will become part of a dedicated network of individuals with great passion for providing holistic support to the communities in which we serve. As a YMCA staff member you will receive:Individual & Family YMCA Membership options;Access to discounted childcare/programYou BringPost-secondary degree in physical education, recreation, or related field is an asset1-3 years of supervisory experience in aquatics, recreation field, 3-5 years in delivery of youth and adult programmingCurrent National Lifeguard Service, Standard First Aid & CPR, and Swim Instructor Certification RequiredYMCA Swim Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor, NLS Instructor, Bronze or NLS Examiner an assetStrong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skillsBilingual in French, Arabic, etc. an assetProven track record of programming excellence and dedication to safetyDemonstrated ability to meet multiple, competing deadlinesFlexibility to work irregular hours as requiredAbility to manage excel spreadsheets in a timely mannerSuccessful candidates are required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and valid First Aid and CPR training.
