At MHG it’s all about the people!Grounded Coffee Bar brings a specialty coffee experience to the Halifax Waterfront along with house made pastries, gourmet donuts, and to-go meals. Grounded is looking for a Pastry Cook to add to their team.As a Baker, You Will

  • Prepare a wide variety of goods such as pastries, gourmet donuts and more
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and specifications to maintain consistency
  • Keep work station clean and organized including fridge’s/freezers, countertops and stove tops
  • Ensure that station opening and closing procedures are carried out to standard
  • Ensures that all food products are handled, stored, prepared and served safely in accordance with hotel and government Food Safety guidelines.
  • Report any and all deficiencies in kitchen equipment functionality and quality of food products to Management
  • Complete other job related duties as assigned
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the hotel health and safety program
Who You Are
  • Good knowledge of different types of pastries, desserts, cake & decorating
  • Possess professional disposition with good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passionate about Pastry Arts with a positive attitude and a desire to learn
What You Bring
  • Basic recipe reading and measurement skills
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen an asset
  • Graduate from Pastry Arts program is an asset
