Job PostingHalifax Regional Municipality is inviting applications for the casual position of Building Monitor with Parksamp; Recreation. Applicants are encouraged to self-identify on their electronic application.Under the direction of the Administrative Support, the Building Monitor position monitors approved facility use and provides customer service to programs and rentals.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides friendly, quality customer service to both internal and external clients.
  • Opens, secures, and closes building.
  • Greets the arriving public and monitors their whereabouts in the building.
  • Opens and closes program/meeting/storage rooms.
  • Assists with set up/take down of meeting rooms and gymnasium - equipment, tables, and chairs, etc. where necessary.
  • Monitors parking lot and centre grounds via a safe and approved method.
  • Signs out preauthorized equipment/supplies.
  • Disinfects program supplies and equipment between usage as needed.
  • Assists with keeping all areas clear and tidy of obstacles.
  • Completes logs/reports of daily activities/information.
  • Takes messages (if required).
  • Enforces facility rules and regulations when required, as directed.
  • Enforces fitness centre rules and regulations.
  • Dispenses items from First Aid Kit and keeps inventory.
  • Completes incident, medical and emergency forms as required.
  • Other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONSEducationamp; Experience
  • Must enjoy working with the public.
  • Must enjoy working in a customer service capacity.
  • Previous customer service experience considered an asset.
  • Minimum Grade 10 education.
Technical/Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities
  • Strong customer service skills with knowledge of communications, public relations, and customer service principles.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing; organize and manage time effectively, work effectively in a team environment or independently.
Security Clearance Requirements: Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.Please note - Testing may be conducted as a component of the selection process to assess technical and job specific knowledge.
