Therefore, we are currently looking to fill the position of Business Systems Analyst to join us in supporting the NS Power Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution.Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is a secure communication network system that involves advanced communication technology and meters. The meters used in AMI systems are commonly referred to as “smart meters” as they allow for remote two-way communication capability which enables a wide variety of benefits including operational efficiencies that translate into customer savings.As a member of the Smart Meter Operations Centre (SMOC) Team you will join a dynamic group of responsive professionals responsible for performing the tasks required to maintain this critical business infrastructure.Accountabilities:Under the direction of the Technology Lead in the Smart Meter Operations Centre, the Business Systems Analyst is accountable for implementing, configuring, and maintaining software applications that support NSP’s AMI solution.The Business Systems Analyst will develop and maintain a thorough understanding of application related business processes and have abilities to support the following functions:

  • Perform application installation, configuration and maintenance
  • Troubleshoot, resolve and document application issues
  • Manage and execute application change using standard change management methodologies
  • Complete application system administration requests in a timely and quality manner
  • Develop and execute technical test cases
  • Develop and implement proactive application monitoring processes and application health checks
  • Ensure effective use of application security and controls by implementing application policies, procedures, and practices to the application solution layer
  • Interact with vendors to resolve application issues and research information
  • Develop, review and deliver knowledge to technology peers
  • Work with operational vendor support services to resolve issues
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.Skills, Capabilities and Experience:The successful candidate will have a University degree or diploma in a computer related discipline and between two- and five-years experience working within technology project implementations.Experience and knowledge supporting technologies or processes such as:
  • Application Support using technologies such as .Net, JMS, EJBs and Oracle WebLogic
  • Experience with applications that use REST APIs and SOAP
  • Enterprise level software implementation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and technical writing skills.
  • Windows and Unix operating systems.
  • Bash/PowerShell Scripting.
  • SQL, data retrieval and analysis.
Working knowledge and experience with the following would be an asset:
  • Itron OpenWay Operations Center solutions.
  • Meter Data Management applications.
  • Data reporting applications.
  • Billing Applications.
  • Integrated application environments.
  • ITIL processes.
