Opportunities for leadership, continued professional development (CPD) and research are well supported.Faculty provide clinical care as part of the IWK Mental Health and Addictions Program. Psychiatric services are integrated within the program which includes community clinics, specialty clinics, intensive services, addiction services, forensic services, emergency psychiatric services and an acute psychiatry inpatient unit. The Faculty of the Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry work collaboratively and often flex capacity to ensure demands for child and adolescent psychiatric care are met. This allows faculty to enjoy working with a range of psychiatric presentations in children, youth, and their families in different settings (inpatient, emergency department, outpatient, intensive services). It also requires faculty to have a range of expertise, skills and comfort managing moderate to complex psychiatric illness presentations.The current needs are in the areas of:
