Job Description

GEM Health Care Group is a leader in providing quality health care living options to seniors in Nova Scotia. Melville Heights is a Retirement and Assisted Living Residence under the GEM Health Care family.The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Completion of a CCA or PCW program or equivalent experience (training on Lawton’s medication administration program provided through facility)
  • Dementia training an asset
  • Current CPR, First Aid certificates and WHMIS
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Experience working with seniors an asset. Ability to respond to the needs of our residents in a compassionate manner
  • Able to work independently and as a team member
  • Able to work well under pressure. Ability to make informed decisions in emergency situations
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities:
  • Carries out tasks and daily work following the procedures, standards and job performance requirements under the direction of the LPN Supervisor / LPN on duty including medication administration.
  • Complete all documentation and charting as applicable. Knowledge of Point Click Care an asset.
  • Cooperates with fellow employees and Management to promote a positive atmosphere for residents, their families, coworkers and visitors, while maintaining confidentiality
  • Identify, assess and report any resident concerns, problems or needs such as physical and/or behavioral changes to the Administrator and LPN on duty.
  • Communicate and work with family members and other health care providers to develop action plan when additional care is needed.
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations involving residents or staff.
  • Provide report at end of shift
Job Types: Part-time, PermanentSalary: $17.00-$20.00 per hourBenefits:

  • 8 hour shift

  • Care Providing: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
  • CCA/PCW Certificate (preferred)
