The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.About the OpportunityThe NS Health Learning Institute for Health Care Providers within Interprofessional Practice and Learning (IPPL) plays a leadership role within the organization in creating a culture of learning with a focus on transition to specialty practice programs, entry-level transition to practice, interprofessional practice education (IPE) and continuing professional practice development. The Learning Institute promotes accountable professional practice in quality practice environments, facilitates patient and family centered care, fosters collaborative team relationships and supports research and evidence-based practice.Reporting directly to the Manager, the NSHealth Learning Institute for Health Care Providers, Learning and Education Resources, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, the Clinical Practice Educator is responsible for participating in program and curriculum development and for planning, executing, and evaluating programs. A primary responsibility is to maintain and deliver interprofessional programming using face-to-face, simulation and web based/distance delivery methods. Through the Institutes provincial mandate, this position promotes the advancement of interprofessional practice within the Nova Scotia health care community.This position will support the Suicide Risk Assessment and Intervention Program with a particular focus on blended learning. Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within Nova Scotia.About You
  • Masters Degree in Social Work or Master of Education (consideration will be given to applicants with Masters degree in another discipline who possess the necessary clinical experience/competencies and those with a Masters degree in progress)
  • Minimum two years recent and continuous clinical experience in Mental Health & Addictions within a multidisciplinary team required
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Current experience with program design, curriculum development, multiple instructional and delivery methods, and exam development required
  • Current experience with development and implementation of multiple assessment methods such as written and oral exams, skill testing, and structured clinical exams required
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the principles of adult learning with program design; curriculum development; multiple instructional and delivery methods; and assessment strategies required
  • Certificate in BLS-C
  • Diploma or certificate in adult education or equivalent an asset
  • Current teaching experience with an interprofessional audience
  • Recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency in clinical practice and education
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to in team building and working from an interdisciplinary approach
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills that are responsive to audience needs
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines, organizational skills, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Suite; internet browsers; Learning Management Systems; Articulate, Blackboard Collaborate, Web Boards
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset
