We are currently looking to fill TWO roles in the position of Communications Co-op Student.Please be aware there is a possibility that this will be a work-from-home position should directives from the Public Health or NS Power recommend this course of action in response to COVID-19.Primary Accountabilities (Position 1):

  • Facilitation of the company’s internal Good Neighbour community giving program and support for associated communications
  • Support for proactive media pitching, as well as media research and analysis
  • Support for social media content and channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Support for stakeholder content creation, outreach and tracking related to the company’s clean energy strategy.
  • Communications planning for special projects
  • Being part of the communications response team during major storms and crises.
Primary Accountabilities (Position 2):
  • You will be responsible as the primary writer, editor and layout coordinator of NSP’s weekly internal employee newsletter.
  • Supporting our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
  • Communications planning for special projects.
  • Planning/executing special events.
  • Providing media research and analysis.
  • Being part of the communications response team during major storms and crises.
You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.Skills, Capabilities and Experience: You must be working towards a Public Relations degree.You have the ability to work independently, learn quickly, and adapt to a fast-paced environment; strong writing skills and organizational skills; ability to work well with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders; experience with SharePoint is considered an asset; experience designing infographics and doing simple video-editing is considered an asset.In accordance with Emera’s occupational health and safety program and the Emera Vaccine Program, subject to any approved accommodation, all employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
