Halifax, NSReference HL-14816For over a decade our client, Trim Landscaping, has provided families, businesses and our city with extraordinary outdoor spaces. They are a fast-moving and constantly growing landscape construction and maintenance company operating in Nova Scotia. They are primarily a commercial and design-build residential contractor. They are one of the largest landscapers in the Atlantic provinces that offers their customers a full-service offering in-house, including a large carpentry division. If you can imagine it, they can design, build and maintain it.They have a culture that challenges its employees to improve, learn new skills and solve all problems for customers. They have experienced exponential growth and we are pleased to be partnered with them to bring a talented, business-minded Controller to their team in Halifax, NS. Someone who thrives on problem solving, is a team player, an advocate for safety and production-oriented will excel in this role. The Controller will not only drive the finance function they will also be a trusted resource for strategy development in the organization.Key responsibilities, among others, will include:Full cycle accounting for three companies including: Trim Landscaping, Citadel Fence, and BBMJ Real EstateOverseeing administrative functions and reviewing and setting accounting policies for the businessAssisting in the review and finalization of the annual budgetPreparing forecasts and projections as required by external stakeholdersEnsuring timely payment of subcontractors and suppliersReconciling vendor statements to ensure completeness of accounting recordsCompletion of all customer billing for construction and maintenance based on specific contractsProcessing payroll for both Trim Landscaping and Citadel FenceCalculating and submitting government remittances including payroll and HST filingsManaging and overseeing daily cash flow positionParticipating in weekly management meetingsParticipating in annual strategy meetings with the OwnershipPreparation and analysis of monthly reporting package to owners and other stakeholdersProfitability analysis based on projects, lines of businesses and project managersPreparing the annual review engagement for the external accountants and acts as the resource person during the review processWe are looking for an experienced CPA who has an appreciation for entrepreneurship and thrives on efficiency and innovation.
