Killam #39;s employees are integral to its success and as such are supported to do their best work, through a variety of programs.Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, the Data Analyst - Finance and Sustainability, will be responsible for supporting Killam #39;s internal and external reporting with a focus on data analysis for portfolio-level energy consumption. This role works closely with members of the finance team, as well as working cross functionally with property management and operations. The successful candidate must have exceptional data analysis, organizational and interpersonal skills, and strong attention to detail.Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Perform data collection and analysis for portfolio-level energy, water, waste, and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Prepare and maintain Killam #39;s GHG inventory in accordance with the GHG Protocol.
  • Apply technical expertise and leverage in-house software tools to create and/or verify annual energy consumption and cost models/forecasts.
  • Perform utility rate research and compile utility rate assumptions across Canadian energy markets.
  • Monitor and maintain utility consumption models that directly impact forecast/budget activities.
  • Work with accounting, property management, development, operations and leasing in data collection and identify ways to optimize data acquisition and analysis.
  • Analyze operational expense data and look for valuable insights to help make business decisions and reduce building operating costs.
  • Support Killam #39;s annual budget process and quarterly forecasting.
  • Other ad hoc accounting and project-based responsibilities as assigned to support senior management.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in business, finance, sustainability, data analytics, accounting or related field of study.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years #39; relevant experience (preferably in real estate).
  • Proven ability to synthesize financial information into a concise story and communicate it effectively.
  • Motivated self-starter with a desire to drive change and challenge the status quo.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as attention to detail.
