Job Description

Disability Case Manager A leading organization in the workplace injury compensation sector is looking for two professionals to join its team. This role involves assessing the needs of injured workers and determining the organization’s responsibility in each case. The position requires leadership in developing goal-oriented return-to-work plans, coordinating medical and vocational rehabilitation services, and maintaining close communication with employers, healthcare providers, unions, and other service providers. Responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating caseloads, preparing detailed return-to-work plans, documenting decisions, and ensuring appropriate financial and benefits assessments based on regulations. The role also involves authorizing services and benefits, including earnings replacement, medical aid, vocational rehabilitation, and permanent impairment benefits.What is in it for you:• Salary Band: $69.000 to $87.000, depending on experience.• Permanentamp; full-time position• Unionized environment: Covered under a collective agreement.• Work schedule: 35-hour per week with core hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.• Hybrid work: One in-office day per week, typically for team meetings.• Work program: Option to have every second Monday or Friday off by working an extra 45 minutes daily, available after 3 months of employment.• Vacation: Earns 1.25 days per month, up to 15 days per year.• Float days: Up to 4 paid float days per year, earned quarterly.• Healthamp; dental benefits: 100% coverage for prescription drugs, paramedical practitioners (up to $600 per year per practitioner), vision care, hospital accommodations, private duty nursing, and more.• Health spending account (HSA): Annual employer-funded credits for additional health and dental expenses.• Pension plan: Defined benefit plan with employer matching contributions (8.4%, increasing to 10.9% for salary above $71.300).Responsibilities:• Coordinate and integrate proactive services for injured workers, employers, and stakeholders, managing high-risk claims.• Facilitate early and ongoing medical intervention and vocational rehabilitation to support return-to-work at maximum earning potential.• Communicate decisions effectively to concerned parties and respond to inquiries and complaints.• Provide and coordinate vocational rehabilitation services, including job search support, wage subsidy negotiations, and alternative employment opportunities.• Assess financial entitlements, applying rate-setting mechanisms as per the Workers #39; Compensation Act and policies.• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, including safe work procedures and a scent-reduced working environment.• Maintain confidentiality and complete security checks as required, with renewal every ten years.• Travel as part of case management responsibilities (access to a vehicle is required).What you will need to succeed:• University degree in health care, education, or social sciences.• Equivalent combination of a university degree in another field and significant additional case management experience may be considered.• 4+ years of experience managing medium to complex cases in a decision-making capacity within patient care, social services, healthcare, insurance, disability case management, or a related environment.• Strong ability to assess, plan, implement, and monitor cases, adjusting strategies based on performance standards.• Knowledge of legislative insurance regulations, administrative rules, and statutory requirements to ensure compliance.• Experience in vocational rehabilitation, including employment counseling, job development, and negotiating workplace accommodations.• Proficiency in managing risks and implementing mitigation strategies.• Ability to analyze complex situations, identify root causes, and develop logical action plans.• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly across multiple channels.• Experience in return-to-work coordination, guiding workplace parties through claims management processes.• Understanding of medical diagnoses and treatment plans for physical and mental health conditions.• Strong decision-making skills, using a combination of analysis, judgment, and experience.• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.• Driver’s License Requirement: Required for case conferencing; minimal travel expected.Why Recruit ActionRecruit Action (agency permit: AP-2000003) provides recruitment services through quality support and a personalized approach to job seekers and businesses.
