Early Childhood Educator AssistantJob SummaryPosition: Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA)Vacancies: 1Wage: $13.60/hour - $24.39/hourAdditional Benefits: Medical and DentalTerms of Employment: Full-time, 30 hours - 35 hours per weekStart Date: As soon as possibleChildren’s Ages: 5 years; 1 year; 2 years; 3 years; 4 years; infant (3 months-11 months); up to 12 yearsWork Site Environment: NoisyTransportation/Travel Information: Public transportation is availableWork Location Information: Urban areaMajor Responsibilities

  • Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts;
  • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods;
  • Maintain a neat and clean environment, including all activity and program areas, common spaces, and washrooms;
  • Submit written observation reports pertaining to the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, to early childhood educators or supervisors;
  • Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours;
  • Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties;
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss the progress and problems of children.
QualificationsLanguagesFluent in English with strong communication skills, CLB 5EducationHigh SchoolExperienceMinimum of 2 years’ experience providing early childhood education, while:
  • Mandarin, Cantonese, or Hindi would be an asset;
  • Experience in creating innovative or play-centered programs would be an asset.
SecurityCriminal record checkSkills and Other Requirements
  • Basic computer skills;
  • Able to assist in housekeeping;
  • Able to efficiently work with co-workers to achieve optimal results;
  • High energy and able to work under pressure;
  • Patience when working with children and toddlers;
  • Demonstrated ability in art, craft, and music is preferred
