Family Well-being Counsellor & Family Liaison OfficerJob PostingThe Family Well-Being Counsellor/Family Liaison Officer (FLO) is an employee of the Halifax & Region Military Family Resource Centre, responsible for providing mental health and well-being services including short term counselling, intervention and navigational support to military and veteran family members. They are also the liaison to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Transition Centre, and therefore have offices in both locations.We are looking for a candidate that is highly organized, who can function well as a bridge to two organizations. A professional social worker who likes a diverse workload and fast paced environment. A candidate who excels in team collaboration and partnership engagement with community service providers.This position requires some travel for client support, conferences/events, and professional development.The successful candidate must demonstrate the following: · Organized, with a high attention to administrative detail and documentation.· Self-directed to achieve outcomes.· High degree of collaboration and teamwork.· Confident in public speaking.· Superior verbal and written language and communication skills.· Ability to resolve conflict with satisfactory results.· Proficient knowledge of MS Office including MS Teams and client service databases.· Knowledge of the military lifestyle is an asset.Education & Experience

  • Must be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work
  • Must have a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Social Work
· 5 years experience with crisis intervention, short term counselling, and navigation support.· 3 years experience supporting clients with illness, injury, bereavement, and gender-based violence.· Experience with group facilitation and program development.
  • Must have Child Abuse Registry Check, Criminal Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and First Aid & CPR certification
