Fundamental to our culture is an unwavering focus on values, dedication to our communities, and commitment to excellence in everything we do.ROLEamp; RESPONSIBILITYThe Systemamp; Integration Engineering Specialist/FSR will be part of the key engineering team that is responsible for the architecture, design and development of Command, Control, Communications and Computer (C4) systems for Canada and foreign government customers, from initial concept and design, through build, test and integration, STW, HATsamp; SATs. The FSR will review and derive system requirements, develop design concepts that meet requirements, perform detailed electrical system design, from entire systems and racks, chassis, cables, selection of electronic components such as power supplies and radios, down to custom electronic designs. The FSR will perform on-site customer support to the RCN and shipbuilders, including installation, test, troubleshooting and repair of fitted systems. Communications interfaces may include USB, Bluetooth, WiFi, RS422/232, Ethernet IEEE802.3, ISDN and POTS telephony, and balanced audio. The FSR will support a rigorous L3Harris design review and documentation process, including development of requirements specifications, design documents, test plans and procedures.POSITION REQUIREMENTSThe incumbent must have a complete understanding of the systems engineering process from systems concept phase through systems test, in addition to a working knowledge of software engineering processes. Incumbent must be adept at: Functional Analysis, Requirements Allocationamp; Traceability, Trade-off Studies, System Synthesis and Software System Evaluation (Integrationamp; Verification Testing), and Field Services. The incumbent must be able to work through customer requirements to technical requirements to product solutions. An understanding of Functional and Allocated baselines in addition to Top-Level and Detailed Level Design approaches is required. Working knowledge of standard system engineering process including: MIL-STD-499, EIA-632, IEEE 1220 or ISO 15288. Strong verbal, written, and people development skills are required.Strong experience with conducting technical investigations of shipboard communication systems, with proven ability to determine root cause to failures and/or inter-operability issues.Strong experience with preparing test and trials procedures and reports for shipboard communication systems.Advanced specialized training with Royal Canadian Navy Communications systems, including SHF SATCOM, X-Band/Ku-Band SATCOM, and Ka/Ku-Band SATCOM.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
