We are currently seeking a Furniture Service Technician to join our furniture retail operation!Reporting to the Customer Care Manager, and based out of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, this role is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the furniture repair service. The Furniture Service Technician will be responsible for all in-home merchandise repairs; warranty claims; and returned merchandise.Primary Duties: · Assessing damages and choosing the appropriate method of repair for casegoods, leather, fabric, and upholstery;· Application of techniques such as: use of fillers, color matching, structural repairs, and installation of replacement parts;· Performing wood color matching & blending;· Performing wood repairs including burn-ins & wood graining;· Performing leather repairs including scuffs, holes and tears (considered an asset);· Performing upholstery repairs including structural/mechanism replacements;· Working closely with Customer Service Representatives to order parts and ensure credits are applied.· Traveling to customer locations to perform repairs.Required Knowledge and Experience: · Previous experience in furniture repair, cabinetry and millwork is considered an asset;· Knowledge in finished wood, veneers and press-board;· General knowledge of furniture construction;· Knowledge of upholstering soft merchandise;· Previous experience in leather and vinyl repair is an assetRequired Skills: · Excellent attention to detail;· Ability to convey information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing;· Superior customer-relations skills;· Ability to adapt quickly to change, and perform effectively duringtimes of change;· Proven ability to multi-task and effectively manage competing priorities;· Ability to build respectful and effective working relationships; able to collaboratewith others to achieve common goals;· Ability to adjust communication to meet the needs of a varying audience;· Strong internal desire to meet or exceed the expectations of internal and externalcustomers;· Proven initiative; a self-starter.Additional Information: · Valid driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract is required· Position involves travel to in-home customer locations (approximately 60%); as well as working out of the warehouse (approximately 40%)· Some additional hours may be required, depending on customer needs;· Some heavy-lifting may be requiredJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $17.00-$19.00 per hourBenefits:
