Job Description

We are seeking 5 full time delivery drivers to work mid shifts or closing at our downtown location on Quinpool Road in Halifax to start work immediately. Priority will be given to applicants available for closing. This is our busiest location and drivers should be able to work at a fast pace and multitask well. Candidates who are reliable, learn multiple skills, are friendly, and have a strong work ethic can reliably expect 35-45 hours per week. Applicants must be able to work a minimum of 4 days per week. Candidates with an open availability and flexibility with their schedule will be given preference for this position. Please note we are not currently looking for candidates outside of the province at this time.Shifts available: Mid shift: 12pm-12am (start and end times may vary slightly depending on store needs).Closing shifts: (shifts beginning between 3pm and 5pm and running until 1am on weekdays and 3am weekends, closing drivers are responsible for helping clean up the store at the end so end time is when the store is fully cleaned and reset for the following day which typically takes about 30 minutes).There may be some additional short shifts over lunch or supper available for drivers looking to pick up extra hours if they have a flexible schedule.Expectations: We maintain a team atmosphere at our company and working together is very important to us and our operations. Drivers who are not currently out on delivery are expected to help out with store operations. Your priority is indeed delivering the products to our customers, and this is what you will be doing the majority of your shift, but the more our pizza cooks can focus on making the products without interruption, the faster you can get back on the road to generate more tips for you. All drivers are trained how to take orders and phone calls, work on the oven assembling orders and cutting pizzas, complete payments and pass out carry out orders, fold boxes, do basic food prep tasks, restock the pop fridge, complete cleaning tasks such as dishes, taking out the trash, sweeping and mopping, and in limited capacities assist with pizza making for large orders. Keep in mind there are usually several drivers on for most of the day especially during busy periods, so tasks are distributed as evenly as possible to divide up the workload. As a delivery expert you are the face of the company, so we are looking for super friendly individuals who love to interact with others. The more helpful and positive you are the more priority you receive for scheduling.Requirements: -You must have your own clean and reliable vehicle or access to one.-You must have current insurance on your vehicle.-You must have a current drivers license in good standing.-You must have a clean driving record without at fault collisions in the previous 3 years.-You must be willing to use a Dominos Pizza car topper (magnetic) on your vehicle.-You must be willing to wear a Dominos Pizza uniform (we provide shirt, hat, jacket, you must have black pants and belt and comfortable shoes in good condition).-You must have a functional ability in English to serve customers.-You must have basic math skills as you will be taking payments and need to be able to calculate change owing and correct payment.Compensation and Incentives: -Hourly wage paid biweekly via direct deposit (to be discussed based off role and skills attained to help in the store). Please note this is not a cash job so hourly is subject to all mandatory taxes and deductions.-Mileage (you will be paid $1 for every delivery you make in the form of cash at the end of the week, all orders are limited to the downtown area in the south half of the peninsula).-Tips (paid out in cash at the end of the week).-Between hourly, tips, and mileage most drivers average at least $18-$25 an hour.-Staff discounts on products.-Free food given on occasion to reward meeting goals and achievements.-Health insurance: including dental, vision, and drug plan available for full time employees after completing 6 months with the company.-Opportunity for advancement.The Delivery Expert’s role is crucial within the Domino’s system. With the majority of orders leaving the store for delivery, the Delivery Expert’s job is to get the order to the customer quickly and safely, and with a smile. Delivery Experts are provided the necessary training in order to quickly and correctly assemble delivery orders, locate the location of the delivery, deliver the orders and present them to our customers in a friendly, cordial manner.Delivery Experts must have their own reliable vehicle, adequate insurance and a driver’s license that is in good standing. They are expected to move quickly on their feet, and to be friendly and courteous with customers and other team members. Cash handling and basic math skills are a must as all Delivery Experts are expected to handle cash and card payments in a safe manner. A uniform is provided. Delivery Experts are expected to be presentable by following Domino’s personal image and grooming standards.Functions:Delivery Experts will deliver orders to customers’ homes and places of work. To do so, they must assemble orders to ensure all items are included. Pack the orders into insulated bags, walk quickly to their vehicle and then drive safely to the customer’s location.
