Additional benefits include:Salary commensurate with experience in fieldComprehensive health and dental benefits plan (eligible immediately upon hire for part-time & full-time staff) including an Employee and Family Assistance ProgramRRSP program (5% employer matching)Vacation accrual (begins immediately) and travel insuranceFree onsite parkingEmployee discounts on select apparel, fitness, and retail partners through our Perks ProgramAccess to continuing education and training through Shannex’s Centre of ExcellenceOpportunities to be part of sector innovation and continuous improvement initiativesRecognition and Rewards for service excellence and safetyAbout the OpportunityAs the General Manager you will:Oversee the organizational structure and professional model of practice to maintain effective communication, assure client access to services, and clearly define responsibility and accountabilityEstablish and actively participate in a structure for receipt of resident/family feedbackLead the interdisciplinary site Management Team toward the organizational, facility and departmental goals and prioritiesParticipate as an active member of the divisional Senior Management TeamPromote a quality improvement culture by championing quality initiatives and programsLead the selection, integration, and development of the Management Team and support ongoing professional developmentEnsure organizational policies and procedures are followed in practice for all operating areasCollaborate on workforce planning for the departments to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintainedWork collaboratively with union partners in Collective Agreement applicationDevelop relationships with government departments, licensing personnel, physicians, service providers and other health related organizationsEnsure provincial licensing and regulatory requirements are metProvide financial stewardship for all aspects of operational expenditures for cost centresDeliver engagement strategies to motivate team members and provide excellence in resident serviceTake every reasonable precaution in all circumstances to ensure the health and safety of team members and all others in the workplace, including but not limited to, providing supervision, training, information, and equipment needed for employees to do their job safelyEnsure client safety by following and applying all standard operational procedures, safe work practices and training providedPerform other related duties as requiredAbout YouUndergraduate degree in a Health-related field or Business7-10 years management experience or equivalentPrevious experience working in a long-term care environment considered an assetBilingualism French/English would be considered an assetMasters in a health-related field or Business would be considered an assetStrong interpersonal and problem-solving skillsAbout UsIt all began in 1988 when our Founder, Joseph Shannon, purchased a single nursing home in his hometown of Sydney, Cape Breton.
