Glow Gardens Event StaffPosition Description: The Glow Gardens Event Staff role is a floating position that has a variety of duties including: directing guests, assisting Zone Supervisors with traffic flow, maintaining the gardens’ cleanliness by picking up any litter, sweeping and vacuuming, monitoring the family zone playground, and bussing tables. The ideal candidate will be friendly and polite with good communication skills to interact with the general public, flexible, responsible, and comfortable around children. Applicants must be available for a minimum of 3 weeks; preference will be given to applicants available for the full 6 weeks.Hours of Operation: Glow Gardens Halifax is open the last week of November until January 2nd, 2023. Hours of operation vary between 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on weekdays and 10:00 am to 11:00 pm on weekends. Additional hours may be required during private party or concert bookings. Applicants must be available for a minimum of 3 weeks; preference will be given to applicants available for the full 5 weeks.Location + Transportation: Located at the Exhibition Center in HRM – Glow Gardens can be difficult for employees requiring the use of Public Transit. Again this year, we have decided to offer transportation options from Dartmouth and Mumford in order to make this position as accessible as possible!Confirmed hires will be required to attend a mandatory training session and tour mid-November in the evening, and become familiar with on-site safety protocols, layout/floor plan, radio protocols and general event information to effectively interact with guests and staff to provide information.Responsibilities: · Answering guests’ questions or directing them to the Info/Passport Booth.· Provide light janitorial support, maintaining the garden’s cleanliness including clearing tables, sweeping up spills, etc.· Assist with break coverage when advised.· Monitor children playing on the play structures and enforce the playground safety rules.· Wipe down areas throughout the night (handles, tables, seats, bouncing animals, etc.).· Keep the playground area free of litter and crumbs.· Communicate any incidents of concern to the Supervisor or Manager.· Assist the Train Conductor with whatever they may need; communicate their needs to the Zone Supervisor when necessary.· Assist with loading and unloading the train during busy periods.· Assist with closing time cleaning routines.Wage: Starting at $15.00/hour for all event staff.Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual, Seasonal, Fixed term contractContract length: 1.5 monthPart-time hours: 35 per weekSalary: From $15.00 per hourFlexible Language Requirement:
