HOME DÉCOR ASSOCIATE Kent Building Supplies is the largest retail building supply chain in Atlantic Canada.  Our mission is to be the best source of home improvement products through superior service, quality products and everyday great prices. Kent is locally owned and operated, and we continue to grow in your community. We are currently hiring a full-time Home Decor Associate for our Kent store. Typical career steps are to become a Department Manager or join the Installed Sales team.If you ask our Home Decor Associates what they like best about working at Kent, they say they like working with people, learning about products and being part of a great team. They also like flexible schedules and opportunities to advance.Responsibilities:

  • Working safely
  • Providing superior customer service – this includes greeting customers, providing information, completing sales, and arranging deliveries
  • Consulting – providing advice on home furnishings, textiles, colours, and décor ideas
  • Using blind cutting machine to create customer blind orders for customers
  • Stocking products, creating displays, and maintaining tidiness of departments
  • Learning about new products and attending training                    
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Retail sales experience is considered an asset
  • Ability to use measuring tape and comfortable working with fractions
  • Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in interior design and an eye for detail
  • Able to develop comprehensive product knowledge
  • Possess a high level of attention to details
  • Able to lift up to 55lbs
  • Willing to be trained on machinery such as a WAVE and Manlift
  • Able to learn and operate the applicable computer system (D635) used to process orders
