Apply by December 1st 2022 date and tell us what excites you about this role.We are currently looking for an HR Associate, Benefits to join our Human Resources team. Reporting to the Sr Manager Employee Services you will be responsible for the oversight and administration of benefits for the group.As an HR Associate within our Total Rewards team you will:

  • Manage the benefits portfolio (health, dental, insurances), including the design and administration of the benefit programs for the Canadian Affiliates of Emera.
  • Guide and support our employees, retirees, and service providers regarding benefits matters, as well as managing external vendor relationships.
  • Research and implement benefits best practices; suggesting and implementing continuous improvements to our processes and approaches.
  • Make the appropriate changes to employee information as it relates to pension and benefits, managing all benefit communication materials for employees and retirees.
  • This role requires an understanding of HR systems (Emera uses Peoplesoft) and will work closely with IT to manage benefits configuration.
  • Prepare and deliver employee education sessions, including orientations and general information sessions.
What skills will make you successfulYou recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:
  • A post-secondary education in Human Resources, or related experience;
  • Hold a designation or Interest in pursuing a designation in employee benefits and/or pension plans, such as CEBS;
  • Two plus (2+) years of relevant benefits/Human Resources experience
  • Great communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships providing a high level of customer service;
  • An understanding of benefits plans or total compensation would be considered an asset but is not essential.
  • An enthusiasm for systems and process improvement
