The incumbent performs at a high level of responsibility in the administration of two computer networks, as well as the analysis, design, and development of special projects and resource planning. The incumbent provides user training at this site, as well as all IT technical support, consulting with customers and providing IT resources to visiting TDYers. The incumbent is responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining all IT plans and reports. This position supports the entire unclassified IT and telecommunications infrastructure at the consulate, as well as off-site locations. The incumbent maintains the mobile services program and provides strategic planning and allocation of resources on all IT-related issues in Halifax. This position manages the Consulates telephone equipment and unclassified IT inventory.Qualifications and EvaluationsRequirements:EXPERIENCE: 3 years in Network Administration using network tools and technical customer support; time and project management; installation and troubleshooting telecommunications equipment (hubs, routers, and switches), hardware and software (Microsoft O365 applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams), workstation and printer deployment, helpdesk/user support applications.JOB KNOWLEDGE: Comprehensive knowledge of standard industry network operating policies and procedures, experience in managing computer networks, routers, switches, cabling, COTS software, Microsoft O365 cloud environment (OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.), telecommunications infrastructure, software, and firewalls is required.Education Requirements:Associates degree in an information systems discipline is required: Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or Information Systems.Evaluations:LANGUAGE: Fluent English (speaking/reading/writing) is required.SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to troubleshoot network computer software/hardware problems; diagnose and resolve connectivity issues/ choke points/ access to resources; the ability to assess customer’s needs, ensure proper network access and that all security and file restrictions are implemented is required. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
