The International Centre supports all students with a focus on programs and supports for international students, from pre-arrival through to post-graduation. Reporting to the Director, International Centre, the International Mobility/Learning Experience Advisor will provide students with advising, programming and support related to international learning experiences (ILE), and work with faculty, staff and exchange partners to support ILE programs.Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to Dalhousie students interested in international learning experiences in areas such as exchange and study abroad, academic and credit transfer procedures, pre-departure and program requirements, risk mitigation, and funding opportunities.
  • Provide advice and support to students from partner universities participating in an ILE at Dalhousie in areas such as registration, course selection and pre-requisites, fee waivers, health insurance and student health programs, accommodations, accessing student services, and in the event of personal emergencies.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation of institutional guidelines, parameters and protocols for student exchange/study abroad programs. Collaborate with university partners to ensure that the most qualified candidates will be nominated for placements with exchange partners.
  • Develop and implement communications and marketing plans to promote international learning experiences, including a social media strategy.
  • Develop and implement innovative, experiential programming for current inbound and outbound students as well as prospective outbound students. Help guide and direct student leaders and groups in building services and programs that encourage the inclusion of inbound ILE students in the Dalhousie community.
  • Develop and implement program plans to support students pursuing ILE and to review ILE satisfaction. Regularly evaluate the success of programming and student experiences. Collect and maintain comprehensive relevant data and statistics. Complete reports as required and annually.
NoteThe selected candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings and some weekend assignments.The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.QualificationsUndergraduate degree in a related field with approximately three to five years’ relevant experience working in an inter-cultural setting (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Must have experience in program planning, design, delivery and assessment as well as a demonstrated interest in, and awareness of, global experiences. Strong project management and organization skills are required. Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal). Additional competency in another language is preferred. Digital fluency is essential, as is demonstrated knowledge of electronic communications, including social media platforms and electronic information systems.
