CRISM’s goal is to accelerate the transfer of scientific knowledge towards the development of new medications, psychological interventions, treatments, and services for people who use substances and those with substance use disorders.Job SummaryUnder the direction of the CRISM Atlantic Node Principal Investigator (NPI), the Knowledge Transfer Agent (KTA) will support the Atlantic Node’s commitment to gather, develop and disseminate knowledge, results, and other relevant research findings and information. The KTA will be responsible for developing and coordinating knowledge transfer (KT) plans and events with CRISM members and creating strategies for external communications and knowledge sharing with CRISM partners as it relates to improving the education, accessibility and quality of substance use services and/or interventions for people who use substances.Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement all operations associated with the transfer of knowledge, and coordinate work with internal and external resources associated with the laboratory (i.e., collaborating with research teams, communication groups, etc.)
  • Integrate existing Knowledge Mobilization (KM) strategies and develop frameworks that account for Atlantic Canada’s unique regional and sectoral demands as it relates to CRISM’s objectives.
  • Explore, develop, and promote on-going engagement in the wider substance use and mental health scientific communities, including, but not limited to, scientific conferences, workshops, community events, lunch and learns, and other educational events.
  • Assist in the development of processes and materials needed for internal consultations, templates to be used in communication tools, and protocols for implementation evaluation.
  • Engage CRISM Atlantic’s working groups and councils to identify and assist in knowledge dissemination strategies and events.
  • Monitor, document, and strengthen CRISM Atlantic’s online media presence (i.e., news articles, publications), including the development and implementation of the Node’s own website, and promoting the Node’s social media presence (i.e., LinkedIn, Twitter) with innovative, engaging strategies.
NoteThe successful applicant may work in-person on campus, primarily remotely, or perform a hybrid of the two as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements.Dalhousie’s vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.QualificationsDiploma or certificate program in a related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of related communications experience, including online formats for information communications, developing communications and knowledge user relations plans and strategies, is required. Experience maintaining knowledge records and media (publications, articles, etc.) as well as managing website and social media are required. Must be able to analyze and popularize science with a sense of initiative and creativity, and be able to work from an intersectional lens within a multidisciplinary team. Strong attention to detail with superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise way is essential. Proficiency in WordPress, Adobe design software and MS Office suite are required.
