Knowledge Translation Agent with the Canadian Research Initiative in Substance Misuse (CRISM): Atlantic NodeThe Canadian Research Initiative in Substance Misuse Atlantic Node is one of five nodes within the CRISM network, a Canada-wide interventional research network in the field of substance use. CRISM’s goal is to accelerate the transfer of scientific knowledge towards the development of new medications, psychological interventions, treatments, and services for people who use substances and those with substance use disorders. The CRISM Atlantic node acknowledges that we are working in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship†which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources, but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.Position description The knowledge transfer agent (KTA) will support the Atlantic Node’s commitment to gather, develop and disseminate knowledge, results, and other relevant research findings and information. Under the direction of the CRISM Atlantic Node Principal Investigator (NPI), Dr. Sherry Stewart, the KTA will be responsible for developing and coordinating knowledge transfer (KT) plans and events with CRISM members and creating strategies for external communications and knowledge sharing with CRISM partners as it relates to improving the education, accessibility and quality of substance use services and/or interventions for people who use substances. This includes working with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, practitioners, and people with lived and living experience, and requires creative, inclusive, and participatory approaches in promoting informational flow and wider regional representation of the Atlantic provinces. The KTA will also assist with media presence and knowledge mobilization activities for other related projects within Dr. Stewart’s lab. This position is open to anyone with relevant experience working in communications.Description of tasks
