Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lab Technician to support DeNova’s Research and Development Team. The primary responsibility of this individual will be to support the daily operations of DeNova’s R&D efforts, including basic laboratory and administrative activities, such as inventory management and equipment maintenance. This individual will work closely with the R&D team to support all laboratory operations to meet company milestones. Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills are essential.Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic laboratory procedures, including preparation of media, agar plates, stock solutions, and general necessities
  • Provide general lab support, including washing glassware and cleaning workstations
  • Monitor lab consumables stock and request orders for general lab supplies
  • Coordinate disposal of general and biohazard waste
  • Receive and unpack deliveries and update inventory lists
  • Establish and co-ordinate service and maintenance contracts for laboratory equipment
  • Maintain cleaning log of lab equipment
  • Develop standard operating procedures and programs for laboratory safety, safety training, chemical inventory tracking/disposal
  • Propose continual operational improvements for efficiency and quality
  • Work closely with the team to support improvement initiatives
  • Proactively maintain organization of labs
Key Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Science Degree an asset
  • One or more years’ demonstrated experience working directly in a laboratory environment, experience working in a life science start up environment preferred
  • Basic computer skills with experience with MS office
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English, both verbal and written
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds on a consistent basis
  • Strong organizational skills an asset
