Job Description

Laboratory Technician A – Inorganics/EnvironmentalAGAT Laboratories is a full-service laboratory with locations across Canada. We are the most diversified laboratory in Canada. Our scientists are highly-skilled and specialized in the fields of biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, geology, engineering and other specialty services. With a broad range of staff experience and state-of-the-art instrumentation, we provide cross-analytical solutions for the Environmental, Energy, Mining, Transportation, Industrial, Agri-food and Life Sciences sectors.Summary:AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for a Laboratory Technician A to join our Inorganics/Environmental working out of our Dartmouth, NS facility.This position is the third level position into the laboratory. This position is given direction from the Laboratory Supervisor. The Laboratory Technician A is able to work independently on laboratory activities and is responsible for maintaining some of the instruments being used in the lab. This is a permanent, Full-Time position and the schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Duties:

  • Perform sample, reagent and calibration preparation as directed
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance on all assigned instruments
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records
  • Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Report results
  • Other duties assigned
Qualifications:
  • Technical Diploma or degree in Science required (Bachelor of Science)
  • 3+ years laboratory experience
  • Able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain analytical instruments
  • Knowledge of full laboratory processes
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast-paced environment
  • Candidates with ICP knowledge/experience would be an asset
  • Good communication skills and fluency in English both verbal and written
  • Hand-Eye coordination and attention to detail and multitasking abilities are required
  • Mature work ethic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
