Job Description

We are currently seeking a Lead Analytical Scientist with experience in analytical chemistry or related field to support projects related to the development and commercialization of single cell protein production.The Lead Analytical Scientist will be responsible for quantitative analysis of microbial intracellular and extracellular extracts. The results generated will provide insight into pathway metabolites, by-products, and bottlenecks to aid in hypothesis generation of optimal fermentation conditions and downstream processing. The Lead Analytical Scientist will also be expected to develop bioanalytical methods for quantitation of various types of biomolecules, particularly proteins, peptides, and carbohydrates. Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to develop creative solutions to challenging problems, are essential.Key Responsibilities

  • Develop/optimize/perform analytical methods for supporting product development using GC/HPLC/LCMS
  • Function as the head of method development, installation, validation and/or other standalone chemistry projects and/or serves as lead analyst in support of different external studies
  • Conducts analysis and experimentation on substances in the laboratory with minimal supervision and using prescribed procedures (protocols, standard operating procedures, methods, etc.)
  • Monitor study procedures to ensure data accuracy and report quality
  • Perform standard QA/QC procedures and routine maintenance on analytical instrumentation
  • Deliver high-quality results in a timely manner
  • Communicate effectively with scientists, project managers, and colleagues serving in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain laboratory and ensure equipment is in good working order
  • Assist in compiling SOPs and other technical documentation.
  • Keep lab notebook accurate and up to date
  • Contribute and adhere to all safety standards and practices
  • Present work at internal meetings
Key Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience in Analytical Chemistry and other related analytical methods
  • Experience with protein analysis and characterization by HPLC is required
  • Experience with mass spectrometry is highly desired
  • Ability to work successfully independently and in teams to meet project goals and timelines.
  • Basic knowledge in sample tracking and data tracking
  • An enthusiastic learner and a willingness to learn and operate various analytical equipment as required
