Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 20+ modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canadas National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year we delivered the second lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years and were just getting started. They are responsible for coordinating the LOTO permit requests from production and ensuring systems are locked out as required.Job Description

• Fulfill the duties of the LOTO permit office
• Receiving request for permits from Production Supervisors.
• Reviewing request with Senior Test & Trials Manager & Trials Engineer for signing.
• Issuing of permits to supervisors.
• Applying locks to valves and other equipment as part of the permit.
• Ensure all employees, including staff, trades and contractors who request permits are trained in ISI LOTO procedures
• Refuse permit if not trained and refer to supervisor/manager.
• Work with training department to verify training

Qualifications – Education, Knowledge & Skills:

• Member of Local 1
• Have a red seal qualification in one of the following trades:
  • Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)
  • Steam Fitter/Pipefitter
• Ability to work independently to complete tasks effectively and efficiently
• Ability to work onboard the ship including stairs, vertical ladders and confined spaces including tanks and voids
• Work well with others in a team environment
• Keen attention to detail
• Able to keep accurate records
• Excellent safety record and ability to strictly adhere to safety procedures
• A good attendance record (at or below Halifax Shipyard average)
