Covid-19 Protocols Strictly Enforced - Masks Mandatory for Entry, Social Distancing in EffectHAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED EMPLOYMENTIN THE LONGSHORING INDUSTRYThe Halifax Longshoremen's Association, Local 269 (ILA) and the Halifax Employers Association (HEA) are looking for approximately forty (40) persons to work as CASUAL LABOUR in the longshoring industry in the Port of Halifax. Upon successful completion of the selection process which includes testing, training, evaluations, etc., you will be eligible to start working in the longshoring industry, first as a Trainee and then as a casual labourer on "Cardboard B" dispatched from Local 269's Hiring Hall.Those persons hired onto "Cardboard B" will only be eligible for CASUAL "Part Time" Work (anywhere from 0 to 25 hours per week with potential earnings up to $30,000 per year depending on the shipping volumes). Work periods, when work is available, will range from 4 to 12 hours in any given day. This is the first step to a career in the longshoring industry but there are no guarantees with respect to hours of work per week, or earnings. It will appeal to those who have a flexible lifestyle, enjoy work that is challenging, physically demanding and like the outdoors.Find out what work in the longshoring industry is all about and see if it is right for you by dropping by on April 27 and 28, 2021 at Pavilion 20 of the Halifax Seaport in Halifax, which is located at 1159 Marginal Road from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. each day. All completed applications must be returned in a sealed envelope to the ILA Local 269 Union office at 5220 Morris Street, Halifax, either in person or by registered mail. Applications will be accepted from Tuesday May 4, 2021 to Friday May 14, 2021 Tuesday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 12 Noon. Please ensure your application is complete and accurate because once it is submitted it cannot be returned, opened or amended in any way. Part of the application process is submitting a copy of your Grade 12 completion certificate (original High School transcripts showing graduation also accepted) or proof of education equivalent to Grade 12 (GED) as a minimum, a photocopy of your driver's license and an original recent driver's abstract.
