Additional benefits include:Typical Hours of work: 11-12 hour shifts, between 730am - 730 pm.Approximate hourly wage: $17.53 after probationary period, $17.05 during probationComprehensive health and dental benefits plan (eligible immediately upon hire) including an Employee and Family Assistance ProgramRRSP program (5% employer matching)Vacation accrual (begins immediately) and travel insuranceFree onsite parkingEmployee discounts on select apparel, fitness, and retail partners through our Perks ProgramAccess to continuing education and training through Shannex’s Centre of ExcellenceOpportunities to be part of sector innovation and continuous improvement initiativesRecognition and Rewards for service excellence and safetyPerforms all other related duties as assigned.About the OpportunityResponsible for assisting direction and management of multiple dining room services while meeting established customer service standards;Provides leadership in the coordination of dining room staff activities to ensure professional service delivery to residents on a daily basis and for special events;Provides leadership and supervises the provision of dining services respecting the resident’s right to individualized services;Performing standard wait staff duties such as serving residents, washing in-house dining room linens, using dishwashers as needed ;Assists with food services for special functions ensuring organization, cost efficiency and appropriate staffing is maintained;Coordinates all meal/beverage charges and submits for proper billing;Communicates regularly with residents to ensure satisfaction with food service;Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of respecting resident’s rights, including: respecting others, maintaining confidentiality, promoting independence, respecting privacy, respecting the right to refuse services and involvement;Communicates with the Harmony & Wellness Team if there is a noted change in the nutritional status of a resident (e.g. decrease in appetite);Provides on the floor orientation to new staff;About YouIn addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:High School Diploma or completion of equivalent education;Food Handlers Course, Serve Safe and/or other recognized food safety education;You can demonstrate a resident-focused approach to service, using strong verbal and written communication skills in English and organizational skills;You have leadership skills, and are able to motivate staff members and build a cohesive team;Ability to motivate staff members and build a cohesive team;You can work flexible hours and shifts (including weekend and holidays) when required;Previous supervisory experience in the hospitality industry is considered an asset;About UsIt all began in 1988 when our Founder, Joseph Shannon, purchased a single nursing home in his hometown of Sydney, Cape Breton.
