Our 6,000 faculty and staff foster a vibrant, purpose-driven community, that celebrated 200 years of academic excellence in 2018.Job SummaryThe Office of Advancement engages with the university’s constituencies – alumni, donors, and friends – to support the strategic priorities and academic mission of the institution. Reporting directly to the AVP, Alumni and External Engagement, the Manager, Alumni Engagement Strategy is a unique position within the Office of Advancement that bridges four units within the unit structure: alumni engagement, annual fund, marketing & communications, and operations.Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze the effectiveness of communications programs and communications and marketing campaigns to advise on “next step” outreach and engagement in support of the Engagement Development Model. Identify segments of constituents who collectively will benefit from tailored programming to facilitate moves management.
  • Support the development and execution of signature alumni engagement events, including developing expertise in virtual event platforms, the capture of constituent data, advising on approach to marketing, and playing the role of lead producer during the event.
  • Work with the Business Intelligence and Operations teams to establish, monitor, and report on key metrics pertaining to alumni engagement and annual fund programming. Ensure that the alumni engagement dashboard and tools are being used effectively across the university by our faculty alumni officers and central team members. Work with Operations to refine our engagement score metrics and processes for capturing data.
  • Train colleagues across Dalhousie on the use of Advancement platforms, ensuring coordination in our outreach and that brand standards are being employed.
  • Report on KPIs for email campaigns, web, and social. Ensure we have processes and methods in place to collect data needed for reporting.
  • Responsible for faculty alumni pages within the alumni website. Act as a final editor on this content, ensuring that the pages have robust and current engagement material and function properly.
NoteFlexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to support Alumni Engagement programming is required for this role. This position is eligible for hybrid work (combination of work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.The successful candidate is expected to be available to work on campus and will be required to provide proof of vaccination or twice-weekly COVID tests in accordance with University policies.QualificationsUndergraduate degree in Marketing, Public Relations or a related program plus five to seven years of experience (or a combination of relevant education and experience) preferably in a post-secondary environment is required. The ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and sensitivity to confidential information is required. This role requires working proficiently in digital platforms, tools, and systems with a deep understanding of information technology. The incumbent has strong written and oral communication skills and understands marketing and how effective communications and marketing result in conversion. They know fundraising and the steps Advancement must take to develop relationships that are meaningful and result in support for Dalhousie and its mission.
