Job Description

In joining the YMCA of Greater Halifax/Dartmouth you will become part of a dedicated network of individuals with great passion for providing a holistic support to the communities in which we serve.The OpportunityThis position is an integral component to ensuring membership growth and retention in support of operational and fiduciary objectives. Through collaboration and leadership of Membership staff, ensures quality member experience while participating and engaging in Y services, including scheduling, budgeting, planning, orientation, subsidy management, and staff/volunteer supervision. Is an Advocate to support timely, meaningful resolution of member concerns.Responsibilities Include

  • Provide support to Association membership growth and retention strategic plans by ensuring quality member experience.
  • Serve as champion for promoting quality commitment and profiling the Y as advocate and community partner in support of healthy communities through collaborative, service-oriented partnership.
  • Ensure inclusive, responsive, values-based management of Opportunity Fund Program in efforts to provide inclusive programming despite financial barriers.
  • Handle application approvals and pipeline, budget development and maintenance, achievement of program targets, provision of alternative pricing options, and establishment of supportive.
  • Ensure delivery of Serving All Members (SAM) quality standards through provision of welcoming, inclusive, and positive membership experience by effective member onboarding, registration, record maintenance, collection and financial assistance processes and timely resolution of Member concerns.
  • Support expansion of Y profile and fiscal performance through efficient management of Corporate Membership Program by ensuring practices are aligned with Y Canada standards (i.e. PCI).
  • Provide positive support to programs, special event planning, marketing, and promotional activities to portray Y values, program offerings, and mandate delivery (i.e. Healthy Kids Day, Monte Carlo, etc.).
  • Responsible for administrative functions in support of Y mandate and Member Relations Strategy, including cash reconciliation, accounts receivable, third party billing, scheduling, payroll, and compilation and presentation of Department Reports (i.e. credit card reports, census, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, industry standards, and Child Protection processes in support of provision of safe environment for all participants, visitors, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ensure fair, consistent, and equitable administration of all staff and volunteer Talent Management processes including Recruitment, Selection, Onboarding, Development, and Performance Management.
  • Ensure modeling and championing of YMCA behavioral standards in regard to professionalism and respectful workplace requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Completion of a University or College program in Marketing, Business Administration, Human Services or a related field
  • 3-5 years Experience in Member Relations or General Management
  • Strong customer service/sales skills, with demonstrated ability to build relationships and establish rapport with clients
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience in fundraising or non-profit sector is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and ability to establish rapport with client
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple, competing deadlines and priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven track record of success in community-oriented program delivery through establishing collaborative internal and external working relationships/project teams
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours required
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • A current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Proof of valid First Aid and CPR training
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19(Preferred)
